What is "Revenue Forecasting"?
Forecasting means using our knowledge of the present and past to predict future performance. Unless you are an experienced revenue manager, it can be difficult to translate your bookings so far into a reliable prediction for the months ahead.
RoomPriceGenie helps you predict your monthly revenue for the months ahead, giving you clarity and confidence about your upcoming results.
What's new?
Your monthly revenue forecast is now powered by our new forecasting model. You'll find it in the same place in RoomPriceGenie as before, but with a more accurate number underneath.
- No budget needed. The previous forecast was based on the monthly budget you entered. The new model learns directly from your booking patterns, your on-the-books reservations, and your current and upcoming prices.
- Measurably better. We test the new model against your historical data, so we can prove it's more accurate and keep improving it over time.
- Consistent everywhere. The same forecast now shows on the Performance tab, in the Excel (.xlsx) export, and in your scheduled email report, so all three always match.
How does the RoomPriceGenie forecasting work?
Our forecasting model learns from your reservations history and combines it with what is happening at your property right now. It looks at:
- Your booking patterns from previous years, such as seasonality and how far in advance guests book
- Your on-the-books reservations for the months ahead
- Your current and upcoming prices
Using these insights, the model estimates how much additional revenue you are likely to pick up on top of what is already booked, and gives you a forecast for each upcoming month.
There is nothing to set up. You no longer need to enter a budget for the forecast to work. As long as your property meets the requirements below, the forecast appears automatically.
Note: Forecasts are independent of your pricing settings. They do not affect your price recommendations; they are purely informational.
Who can see the forecast?
The forecast is available on the Professional Plan when both of these are true:
- Your property has at least 2 years of reservations data in RoomPriceGenie.
- Your Reporting is set to show "Gross excluding extra services". On any other tax mode, the forecast is hidden for now.
If your property doesn't have 2 years of reservations data yet, you won't see a forecast for the moment. We'd rather show nothing than a number we can't stand behind. We're already working on a version of the model for properties with a shorter reservations history.
⚠️ Previously saw a forecast based on your budget? If your property has less than 2 years of reservations data, your budget-based forecast has been removed. Nothing is wrong with your account; the new model simply needs more history before it can give you a reliable number.
What you will see
Your forecasted monthly revenue appears in three places, and the numbers always match:
- Reporting > Performance tab, on the Revenue card
- The Excel (.xlsx) export of your report
- Your scheduled email report
This gives you a reliable overview to monitor performance, inform decisions, and communicate with owners and stakeholders.

Why can't I see my forecast?
If your forecast isn't showing, check these in order:
- Tax mode: Make sure your Reporting is set to "Gross excluding extra services". This is the most common reason the forecast seems to disappear.
- Reservations history: Your property needs at least 2 years of reservations data.
- Plan: Forecasting is part of the Professional Plan.
Still can't see it? Contact us and we'll take a look.
How good is the forecast?
We regularly test our model against historical data to measure how close its predictions come to what actually happened. This lets us keep improving it. Still, no forecast can guarantee exact results.
- Predictions for the near term are more accurate.
- Forecasts for further months out are less precise due to the number of changing factors.
⚠️ In short: Use the forecast as a guide to expected performance, not a promise.
Does the forecast affect pricing?
No. The forecast is totally independent of the pricing. It is for informational purposes only.
