Reference Room

When we set up your RoomPriceGenie account, by default, we configure and assign all the room types that we can see in your PMS or Channel Manager (to which we are connected). Then, we choose your reference room type. During the initial setup of your RoomPriceGenie account, this will have been discussed with you.

The reference room type will be the first room type you will see when you log into your RoomPriceGenie account, and this room will be the basis for our revenue optimization.

By default, you will always see the Reference room in the Calendar view.

In Configure Rooms, the first line of the category list is dedicated to the Reference Room. All other categories will be derived following the derivation rules.

The first line of the list of all room types shows the Reference Room.

Question: Which room should I choose as my reference room?

  • The most common option is the most popular room type you have.
  • Another option would be the cheapest room type, so all others are priced higher than this.
  • Choose the one you are most comfortable with when you look at the price.

How to change the Reference Room?

  1. Log in to RoomPriceGenie and go to Price Strategy > Room Settings
  2. Ask yourself if the room type you want to set as a new reference room is already listed or if you want to add a new one.
    1. If it is already in the list, click on the type of room you want to configure; a new window will open; go to PMS/CM Mapping, where under Room in PMS you will have to unassign the room by selecting “Please map”.

    2. If you want to add a room and it does not exist in the list, go to Add new room type, but under Room in PMS do not select anything.

  3. The first line of the list (the one in Bulk) is dedicated to the Reference Room and should be edited here. Click on the first line where it says Reference and go to PMS/CM Mapping. In the Room in PMS field of the drop-down menu, you should be able to select either a) the room you previously unassigned from your existing list or b) the room you just added.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. What will happen to the Room that is no longer the reference Room? If you still need to keep that room, click on it (the name will remain so it will be easy to locate in the list) and assign the mapping.

IMPORTANT: When setting the Reference Room, always maintain the correct count for each room type, as this will affect the accuracy of the Occupancy Calendar.

(We are currently in the process of updating our knowledge base. Thank you for your understanding in case you still see an outdated display. However, the steps to follow will remain the same).
