      Reference Room

      This article explains the concept of a Reference room type in RoomPriceGenie and how users can manage it.

      The Reference Room

      When we set your RoomPriceGenie account, by default, we set and map all the room types we can see in your PMS or Channel Manager (whichever we are connected to). Then we choose your Reference Room type. During the initial setup of your RoomPriceGenie Account, this would have been discussed with you.

      The Reference Room type will be the first room type you’ll see when logging into the RoomPriceGenie account, and this room will be the base for our revenue optimization.

      By default, you'll always see the Reference Room in the Calendar view.

       
      In the Rooms Setup, the first line of the list of categories is dedicated to the Reference Room. All your other categories will be derived following derivation rules.

      Question: Which room should I choose as my Reference Room?

      • The most common option is the most popular room type you have.
      • Another option would be the cheapest room type, so all others are higher than this price.
      • Choose the one you are most comfortable seeing the price of.

      How to change the Reference Room?

      1. Log in to RoomPriceGenie and go to Pricing Strategy > Room Setup
      2. Ask yourself if the room type you like to set as a new Reference room is already listed or if you would like to add a new one.
        1. If it's already listed - click on that room type you like to set, a new window will open,  go to PMS/CM Mapping where under Room in PMS you will have to un-map the room by selecting  'Please Map'.

        2. If it's a room you like to add and does not exist on the list - go to Add new Room Type but still under Room in PMS don't select anything!

      3. The first line from the list (the one in Bulk) is dedicated to the Reference Room and must be edited here. So click on the first line where it says Reference and go to PMS/CM Mapping. On the Room in PMS filed from the dropdown you should be able to select a) the room you unmapped previously from your existing list or b) the room you just added
      4. Save your changes.
      5. What will happen with the room which is no longer the Reference? If you still need to keep that room - click on it (the name will remain so it will be easy to spot it on the list) and map it.

      IMPORTANT: When adjusting the Reference room please always keep the correct count of each room type as that will affect the accuracy of the Occupancy Calendar.
