How Events Work in RoomPriceGenie

RoomPriceGenie integrates with PredictHQ to give hoteliers visibility into upcoming local events relevant to their property's location.

You can also manually add internal hotel events or local events not populated by PredictHQ.

Note: Events are essentially informational and do not directly influence RoomPriceGenie’s dynamic price calculation. This is because events affect properties differently and don’t fully reflect the complexity and fluidity of the hospitality market.

However, if an event drives real demand (e.g. faster pick-up or higher market prices), those demand signals will already be captured within the Market Factor and reflected in your recommended rates.

👉 Example: A hotel may increase rates during a local festival, but if the audience is mostly locals who don't need accommodation, demand may not spike at all hotels in the region; it will probably impact only the ones closer to this specific event location.

A demand-based dynamic pricing software like RoomPriceGenie, will adjust prices based on actual demand signals such as:

    • Booking pace (pickup)

    • Occupancy

    • Market insights

and will combine this with calendar events as a reference, not a driver.

While RoomPriceGenie does not automatically adjust prices based on these events, the goal is to give property owners and managers contextual awareness of potential demand drivers.

Benefits of Event Visibility

Knowing about local events enables hoteliers to:

  • Prepare staffing and housekeeping schedules accordingly.

  • Launch targeted promotions and offers during event periods.

  • Use the insights to evaluate past performance linked to specific events.

💡 Tip: Use the event calendar proactively to stay ahead of local trends and elevate the guest experience during key dates!

Where do you see Events

  • Calendar View: Events are displayed within the calendar, so you can easily spot which dates have local happenings.

  • Date Detail View: Any associated events are also listed when inspecting a specific date's pricing and other details.

What can you do if you know an event will affect your property?

While RoomPriceGenie automatically responds to real demand signals—like booking pickup and competitor price shifts—your knowledge of upcoming events can still help you fine-tune your strategy and prepare your property more holistically.

Here are a few thoughtful ways to use event insights effectively:
  1. Review the dates affected: Use the calendar view or date detail view to spot which periods have events that may bring additional demand.
  2. Consider applying a minimum length-of-stay (LOS) restriction to these dates if you expect very high demand. Learn more about applying minimum stay restrictions here.
Events can also serve as valuable reference points for broader operational planning, such as staffing, marketing, or guest experience. Collaborate with your team to plan operational strategies for upcoming events.

Remember: Genie handles the pricing complexity, but your local knowledge helps you make the most of the opportunity!
